Adrienne Ferreira-Bachis, Founder of Skin Linen, Offers a Sanctuary in Your Daily Routine with Her Grass-Fed Tallow & Botanical Skincare

Adrienne Ferreira-Bachis is the founder of Skin Linen, a Michigan-based luxury tallow & botanical skincare company redefining modern tallow skincare through thoughtful formulation, timeless design, and a passion for wellness.

Originally from Brazil, Adrienne built a successful career in the beauty and fashion industry before her own health journey which included multiple surgeries, pregnancy loss, and surgical menopause and this led her to question conventional skincare and pursue a more holistic path. Determined to develop a new take on the products she fell in love with during one of the most challenging seasons of her life, she founded Skin Linen to help women nourish and support their skin naturally, especially through hormonal changes and midlife.

Every Skin Linen formula begins with grass-fed tallow and is thoughtfully paired with botanical ingredients chosen for both their skin benefits and sensory experience. Adrienne’s philosophy is simple: skincare should honor the skin, turning everyday routines into meaningful moments of self-care.

Today, Skin Linen is carried by retailers across multiple states and continues to grow while remaining proudly woman-owned, small-batch, and handcrafted in Michigan. Beyond building her company, Adrienne is passionate about encouraging women to embrace aging with confidence, in whichever way brings them joy and fulfillment, trust their intuition, and create lives and businesses based on authenticity rather than perfection.

She believes that our greatest challenges often become the foundation for our greatest purpose, and that true beauty begins when women feel at home in their own skin.”

What was your inspiration for launching Skin Linen?

Skin Linen was born from a very personal journey. Before becoming a skincare founder, I spent years in the modeling industry. Beauty was always a part of my life, but so were the pressures that often come with it. Over time, I began questioning the messages we receive about beauty. I realized I wanted to create something that encouraged people to care for themselves rather than constantly trying to change themselves.

As someone who has experienced hormonal changes, surgical menopause, and sensitive skin, I understand how dramatically our skin, and even our sense of self, can change throughout life. Menopause affects so much more than our skin. It can influence our confidence, our emotions, our energy, and how connected we feel to ourselves. During that season of my life, I wasn’t just looking for better skincare; I was looking for something grounding.

Growing up in Brazil also shaped my perspective. Because of my parents, nature was always part of everyday life, and I developed a deep appreciation for botanicals and simple rituals passed down through generations. Those traditions taught me that caring for ourselves doesn’t have to be complicated.

Today, Skin Linen reflects everything I’ve learned about beauty: that it should help us feel more connected, not more critical of ourselves. Every product is created with the intention of helping people slow down and remember that skincare can be a small act of self-love and respect.

“I created Skin Linen to offer a sanctuary in your daily routine—a moment to reconnect with yourself and nature, emphasizing self-love and mindfulness.”

Take us through your products.

I wanted to create products that feel less like another step on a to-do list and more like a pause during a busy day.

Many of us spend our lives caring for everyone else—our families, our careers, our communities—and somewhere along the way we forget that we deserve that same care ourselves. For me, skincare became a moment to breathe, to be present, and to reconnect with my body with gratitude.

We carefully select ingredients that support the skin’s natural barrier and provide nourishment without unnecessary fillers or harsh formulas.

Grass-fed tallow forms the foundation of many of our products because its fatty acid profile closely resembles the lipids naturally found in our skin. We pair it with thoughtfully chosen botanicals like calendula, rosehip, bakuchiol, chamomile, matcha, manuka honey, and olive squalane—ingredients selected because they genuinely support healthy-looking skin.

As women move through different seasons of life—whether it’s pregnancy, postpartum, menopause, or simply aging—our skin changes with us. Rather than trying to erase those changes, I believe skincare should nourish and support our skin through them.

What are your top sellers?

Our Unscented + Honey Tallow Balm continues to be one of our best sellers because it’s beautifully simple. It contains just a handful of thoughtfully chosen ingredients like grass-fed tallow, raw manuka honey, and organic olive oil. It has become a favorite among people with dry, eczema-prone, sensitive skin who are looking for gentle, nourishing skincare.

Our Cocoa & Marshmallow Tallow Balm is another customer favorite. People often tell us they love how comforting it feels on the skin while still being made with clean, intentional ingredients.

One product that has surprised me is Vanille en Rose. It has become one of our top sellers, particularly in natural food stores. I’ve noticed that many women are looking for products that support healthy skin renewal while remaining gentle enough for sensitive or hormonally changing skin.

As we move through different seasons of life, especially during perimenopause and menopause, our skin often becomes drier, thinner, and more reactive. Many women find that traditional retinoids become difficult to tolerate.

That’s one of the reasons I chose bakuchiol for this formula. Bakuchiol is a botanical ingredient that has been clinically studied alongside retinol. A randomized, double-blind clinical trial published in the British Journal of Dermatology found that bakuchiol improved the appearance of fine lines and pigmentation similarly to retinol while causing significantly less scaling and stinging, making it an excellent option for people with sensitive skin.

I paired bakuchiol with rosehip oil, olive squalane, jojoba oil, and grass-fed tallow to create a moisturizer that supports the skin with nourishment rather than potential irritation. I think that’s why it has resonated with so many women looking for effective skincare that also respects where their skin is in this season of life.

Share some of your challenges during your journey.

Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve learned that building a business requires patience, resilience, and trusting your gut.

There have been countless moments of trial and error—from developing formulations and designing packaging to navigating manufacturing and retail relationships. Every challenge became an opportunity to learn.

Personally, one of my greatest teachers has been my own body. Going through surgical menopause at a relatively young age changed the way I thought about skincare and self-care. I realized that hormonal changes can affect our skin, our confidence, and even how we feel emotionally. That experience made me even more passionate about creating products that help women feel cared for during every stage of life.

One of the biggest lessons has been staying true to the vision, even when trends come and go. It’s easy to feel pressure to follow what’s popular, but I’ve always believed authenticity creates something much more lasting.

Your products are carried in Chamberlin’s and other retailers. How did this take you to the next level? Was it difficult to get into retail?

Seeing Skin Linen on store shelves has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey because it represents trust. Every retailer that chooses to carry our products is saying they believe in what we’re creating, and that means so much to me.

Getting into retail definitely wasn’t easy, and I think one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that being relentless is super important.

I remember reaching out to one retailer I love for months without receiving a single response. My husband finally looked at me and said, “Maybe this just isn’t the door that’s meant to open.”

One evening, I happened to be shopping at that very store. I walked outside with my groceries, stood under their sign, and remember thinking, I’m not giving up. I’m going to reach out one more time.

A few weeks later, Skin Linen was on their shelves.

That experience taught me that sometimes the difference between “no” and “not yet” is simply persistence.

I’m also incredibly grateful for my husband. Every entrepreneur has strengths and weaknesses, and he’s been such an important part of this journey. He’s wonderful at building relationships with retailers and supporting the business in areas where I don’t naturally excel. Skin Linen may have started with my vision, but it has absolutely grown because of the partnership we share.

Today, seeing Skin Linen in stores like Chamberlin’s, Meijer, Better Health Market, Fresh Thyme, and other wonderful independent retailers reminds me that every unanswered email, every follow-up, and every moment of doubt was worth it. Sometimes the opportunity you’re hoping for is just one more conversation away.

What is your advice to women entrepreneurs who want to launch a holistic brand?

Start with your values before you start with your products.

People can tell when a brand is built around trends versus genuine purpose. Spend time understanding why you’re creating something and who you’re creating it for.

Also, don’t be afraid to grow slowly. We often celebrate overnight success, but many meaningful businesses are built behind the scenes through consistency, some really tough days, and countless small decisions made with integrity.

Be relentless. There will be moments when people don’t respond, when opportunities don’t happen as quickly as you’d hoped, and when you’ll question yourself. Keep showing up anyway. Sometimes the only difference between success and giving up is one more email, one more phone call, or one more conversation.

Most importantly, remember that your business doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Your story is one of the few things that cannot be copied. Stay authentic, trust your instincts, and build something that reflects your values.

Share your vision for the next six months.

My vision is certainly to continue growing Skin Linen and bringing our products to more retailers, but my biggest hope is something much deeper than growth.

I hope Skin Linen becomes a reminder that beauty can be a form of mindfulness.

We’re living in a world where we’re constantly connected, constantly comparing ourselves, and constantly rushing from one thing to the next. I think many women, myself included, feel overwhelmed by that pace.

For me, applying skincare has become a small daily ritual that helps me slow down. It’s a few quiet moments where I can put my phone down, breathe, and care for the body and mind that have carried me through every season of life.

As women, we spend so much of our lives caring for everyone else. Skin Linen is my reminder that we deserve that same tenderness, too.

As we get older, I believe caring for ourselves is essential. It is both a privilege and a responsibility to nourish the body that has carried us through joy, grief, motherhood, careers, loss, healing, and every experience that has made us who we are.

I’ve come to believe that the skin is something we have the privilege of caring for through every season of life.

If Skin Linen can encourage someone to put their phone down for a few minutes, take a deep breath, and care for themselves with the same compassion they so freely give to everyone else, then we’ve accomplished something meaningful. My hope has never been to convince people they need our products to be beautiful. It’s to remind them that they already are.
