Meet The Creator and Innovator, Khansa Khatoon, Founder of the ALIFF App, an AI Stylist Built Exclusively for Muslim Women and Most Dressers

Khansa Khatoon is a Creative Strategist and the founder of ALIFF. Born in India and now a first-generation American, Khansa comes from a family with four generations in business. Raised in a conservative household where faith and ambition were never seen as separate paths, she grew up with a deep appreciation for building things that create lasting impact.

After beginning her hijab journey three years ago, Khansa realized the internet wasn’t built for women who choose to dress modestly. The mood boards, styling advice, and fashion recommendations she found consistently encouraged women to show more skin, not more coverage. She wanted to look polished and stylish without compromising the way she chose to dress.

To solve the problem for herself, Khansa began using AI to create modest outfit ideas. That experience sparked a bigger vision. If AI could help her, it could help millions of other women facing the same challenge. That idea became ALIFF.

As a solo, non-technical founder, Khansa taught herself how to lead a software development team, navigate Apple’s App Store compliance, and bring ALIFF from concept to a fully functioning app, entirely bootstrapped, without a co-founder or outside funding.

ALIFF uses AI to generate outfit recommendations from a woman’s own wardrobe, tailored to her style, body type, color palette, and modesty preferences. Rather than asking women to adapt to mainstream fashion, ALIFF is built around the way they already choose to dress.

Through ALIFF, Khansa is helping redefine what inclusive fashion technology looks like. She is building for a global community that has long been underserved, proving that Muslim women deserve technology designed with the same level of innovation, intention, and excellence as any other market, without ever compromising their values.

You spent 9+ years in creative strategies working brands across many industries. Share what you learned.

My background is in digital marketing, where I’ve spent more than nine years working as a creative strategist. Along the way, I’ve also built a strong foundation in photography, food styling, and visual storytelling. Aesthetics have always mattered deeply to me, but so has understanding the people I’m creating for.

Over the years, working with businesses and people from all walks of life taught me how to truly understand the customer. That understanding shaped the way I approach every problem. I’m deeply strategic. I believe in finding the smartest, most effective solution, not doing the least and not doing the most, but applying exactly the right amount of effort to achieve the best outcome.

I enjoy taking ideas from paper to reality and executing them with clarity, precision, and purpose. That instinct to understand the customer, think strategically, and execute with intention is the foundation of everything I build today, including ALIFF.

At the end of the day, ALIFF isn’t just a product I wanted to create. It’s a problem I wanted to solve for a community I genuinely care about.

What led you to launch ALIFF?

Honestly, it started with a mirror moment. When I put the hijab on almost two years ago, everything I thought I knew about my own style got thrown out. I used to love playing with my curls, and suddenly I was standing in front of my closet not knowing who I was getting dressed as.

The actual idea for ALIFF came to me while I was living in Malaysia, watching women move through their day dressed so effortlessly modest, like it was just second nature to them. It made me think about women back in America, where the weather often means we’re layering more to stay warm, and that layering doesn’t always come out looking effortless. It can end up looking more like we’re bundled up than styled with intention.

I sat on that idea for almost a year. It wasn’t until I got the chance to pitch at EmpowHerCon in 2026 that it actually became real. Pitching it out loud, in front of a room, is what pushed me from just having an idea to actually building it.

As a disruptor in the space of Muslim fashion, what are your goals?

My goal is to build ALIFF into a global platform. We’re one ummah across the world, and I want ALIFF to reflect that by creating a space where Muslim women can connect, no matter where they’re getting dressed from.

Right now, my focus is on launching the MVP. Long term, though, the community feature is what excites me most. It’s planned for phase two, where women will be able to style their avatars and share their looks with one another. On the surface, it sounds simple, but the vision is much bigger. I don’t want ALIFF to be just another app. I want it to become a place where Muslim women come together, inspire one another, and grow together, not just get styled.

As ALIFF grows, I’d also love to partner with ethical, values-aligned brands that genuinely resonate with our community and everything we stand for.

As for calling myself a disruptor, I think that’s fair. My focus has never been on launching another fashion brand or collection. It’s about access. My mission is to give every Muslim woman, regardless of her budget or background, the ability to feel polished, express herself with confidence, and walk out the door feeling like the best version of herself.

Take us through your platform.

ALIFF is an AI-powered confidence companion for Muslim women. I built it specifically for this community because, while there are plenty of styling platforms out there, Muslim women have largely been underserved. I want my people to feel polished, confident, and stylish without having to figure it all out alone.

The experience is simple. In under a minute, you upload your wardrobe, and ALIFF learns your body shape, personal style, and preferences. There’s no pressure to buy more clothes or keep up with trends. It’s about helping women make the most of what they already own, giving them confidence and clarity every time they get dressed.

What makes ALIFF truly powerful is the AI. It isn’t just generating outfits. It’s learning. Every time a user likes or rejects a recommendation, ALIFF understands why and uses that feedback to improve future suggestions. Over time, it develops a deep understanding of each individual user, creating recommendations that feel increasingly personal and tailored to her, rather than relying on one-size-fits-all styling.

Why is ALIFF the best solution?

ALIFF starts where every other styling tool stops. Most platforms treat modesty as an afterthought, adding it as a filter to a generic styling engine. For us, modesty is the foundation. It’s built into every recommendation from the very beginning.

ALIFF also works with what a woman already owns. There’s no pressure to buy a whole new wardrobe just to feel stylish. Instead, it takes her existing closet, understands her body shape and coverage preferences, and creates outfits she can actually wear tomorrow morning.

What sets ALIFF apart most is the relationship we’re building. My goal isn’t simply to recommend outfits. It’s to earn trust. I want women to reach for ALIFF the way they’d reach for a friend who always knows what to say and always understands their style. Every morning, every time they step out the door, I want ALIFF to be the companion they can rely on.

What is your vision for ALIFF in the next 6 months?

The next six months are about proving the foundation. I want ALIFF to be fully live and in the hands of real women, becoming part of their daily routine, not just another app that’s downloaded and forgotten. Building that daily habit matters more to me right now than chasing user numbers.

This stage is also about listening. Every outfit a woman loves or rejects teaches the AI something new, and I want that feedback loop to become stronger with every interaction. My priority is making sure ALIFF improves through real user experiences, not assumptions.

At the same time, I want to begin laying the groundwork for the next phase of the platform. That includes community features, avatar styling, and the experiences that transform ALIFF from a styling app into a space where Muslim women genuinely feel connected.

Six months from now, I want to look back and know we didn’t just launch a product. We built something women chose to come back to every single day.
