You are described as a “Serial Encourager.” Share your journey.

I’ve made a few discussions that have caused my plans to not materialize. It’s then that I encourage myself to learn from my discussion and to move on.  And wouldn’t you know it? Somehow, I cross paths with someone going through a similar issue, and the encouragement just flows.

How did your divorce in 2002 transform your life?

Well, back then, 2002, there weren’t as many guidebooks available as they are now. So, I found myself on an unforgettable healing journey. With emotions flaring, I used every avenue to heal. Here is where transformation started, one step at a time.

Can you share your challenges and struggles from your marriage and how this led you to help others?

Some of my biggest challenges were that I never experienced consistent safety, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. That was tough because holes in my self-worth were stripped from me. Now, I encourage others to identify that this has happened and then start to renew their faith in God first so that no one can or will rob them of their God-given safety again.

You are a well-known coach supporting people with overcoming divorce stress. What are some of the lessons that you learned?

It’s amazing that so many women, especially,  feel that they’re all alone in their divorce process. I remember that feeling, that lie.

Tell us about your new book, 10 Steps for Overcoming Divorce Stress.

10 Steps…. is a guidebook created from my personal account along with scriptures,  positive affirmations and some mirror work to accelerate the healing process.

Can you share a few key points?

Two of the ten steps in the book particularly struck a chord with me. The first is the idea of engaging in emotional house cleaning, which emphasizes the need to confront and clear out unresolved feelings and past traumas. This process allows us to create a healthier emotional environment. The second step is about self-forgiveness, highlighting the significance of letting go of guilt and embracing compassion for ourselves. Together, these practices encourage personal growth and emotional well-being.

Share your mission and your goals for the future.

My personal mission is to reach as many individuals as possible with the message that healing is accessible to anyone who actively seeks it. Going through my divorce felt like experiencing a profound loss, akin to a type of death. The pain and disappointment that accompanied this process were overwhelming, and it drove me to a deeper understanding of myself and my faith.

I want to communicate to other divorcees that, despite the heartache, there is hope for healing and a sense of freedom that can be rediscovered. It’s essential to recognize that this journey involves finding a renewed sense of purpose, both in God and within ourselves. Healing does not simply happen; it requires deliberate action and active participation in the process.

My overarching goal is to consistently maintain a state of wholeness, peace, and grace—qualities that I believe can only be fully realized through a connection with Christ. I have come to understand that I could never achieve true healing without seeking spiritual guidance and engaging actively in my own restoration journey. It is this combination of faith and action that has made all the difference in my life.
