Shelly L. Bell: The Architect of Unapologetic Influence
Visionary Leader | Historical Trailblazer | Global Advocate
Shelly L. Bell is a woman who refuses to be defined by a single room. Standing at the powerful intersection of faith, politics, and personal development, she has spent her career proving that you don’t have to choose between a seat at the table and a pulpit in the sanctuary—you can simply build a new building. Recognized as a FORMIDABLE Woman US: Influential Woman to Watch for 2026, Shelly is the embodiment of what happens when preparation meets an unwavering “Yes” to God’s calling.
The Power of “Unapologetically Her”
At the heart of Shelly’s mission is the movement Unapologetically Her. In a world that often asks women to shrink, Shelly teaches them to take up space. Her philosophy is simple yet revolutionary: authenticity is a superpower. Through her coaching and signature “Balancing Confidence” framework, she empowers women to shed the weight of external expectations and step into their purpose without asking for permission. To Shelly, being “Unapologetically Her” isn’t about ego; it’s about the stewardship of one’s God-given identity.
You are the embodiment of what happens when preparation meets an unwavering “Yes” to God’s calling. Share your journey.
My journey is a testimony of what happens when faith and preparation walk hand in hand. I’ve learned that God rarely calls us without first cultivating us. Long before titles, platforms, or recognition, there were seasons of quiet obedience—saying “yes” when no one was watching, serving diligently, learning deeply, and trusting God’s timing even when the path wasn’t clear.
I’ve worn and wear many hats—public servant, assistant pastor, chaplain, advocate, mentor, mother, grandmother, and builder—but every role has been shaped by one unwavering commitment: to honor God through service. Preparation came through education, leadership development, and hard-earned experience, but the true turning points came when I chose obedience over comfort. Each “yes” required courage—yes to leadership when I felt unqualified, yes to advocacy when it was inconvenient, yes to purpose when it demanded sacrifice.
I believe influence is not about visibility, but responsibility. God has entrusted me with rooms, voices, and opportunities not for personal elevation, but for impact—especially for women, families, and communities often overlooked. My journey continues to remind me that when preparation meets faith-filled obedience, God does the multiplying. I simply show up willing, ready, and surrendered—and He does the rest.
What is at the heart of your mission?
At the heart of my mission is restoration—helping people, particularly women, remember who they are and step fully into who God created them to be. Everything I do flows from a deep belief that healing, purpose, and leadership are not separate journeys; they are intertwined.
My work centers on creating spaces where faith meets action—where women are equipped, communities are strengthened, and systems are challenged to serve people with dignity and equity. Whether through public service, ministry, or platforms like Fix My Crown or the Encouraging Café, my mission is to help individuals reclaim their voice, refine their confidence, and lead from a place of wholeness rather than exhaustion or survival.
Ultimately, my mission is about alignment—helping people live boldly at the intersection of calling and preparation, so they don’t just succeed, but serve with impact, integrity, and faith.

Tell us about working with women entrepreneurs.
Working with women entrepreneurs is deeply personal to me because I understand both the courage and the cost of building something from the ground up. Many women carry vision, faith, and brilliance—yet they’re often building while balancing families, careers, community expectations, and the internal pressure to “get it right.”
One woman I worked with came to me with a powerful idea but no structure and very little confidence. She was underpricing her services, overextending herself, and questioning whether she was truly “cut out” for entrepreneurship. Through coaching and intentional strategy, we clarified her vision, repositioned her brand, and helped her establish boundaries around her time and worth. Within months, she secured her first major contract, increased her rates, and—most importantly—began showing up as a confident leader rather than an exhausted founder.
My role is to help women entrepreneurs move from survival mode to sustainable success. I work with them to clarify vision, strengthen confidence, and build structure around their ideas so their purpose doesn’t burn them out. I’m especially passionate about helping women understand that entrepreneurship is not just about profit—it’s about impact, stewardship, and alignment.
Through mentorship, programming, and community, I help women entrepreneurs see themselves as leaders, not just business owners. When a woman understands her value, honors her boundaries, and builds with intention, she doesn’t just grow a business—she shifts her family, her community, and the generations connected to her.
The “Unapologetically Her” Identity Intensives
High-achieving women often struggle with “Imposter Syndrome” or shrinking to fit into corporate/social boxes.
• The Confidence Audit: A deep-dive session to identify where a woman is “shrinking” and a strategic plan to reclaim her voice and space.
• Signature Identity Coaching: Helping women align their personal brand with their God-given purpose, ensuring they show up “Unapologetically” in every room.
Sipping Grace at the Encouragement Café
Shelly’s influence extends into the digital and spiritual airwaves through her work with the Encouragement Café. Understanding that empowerment without nourishment leads to burnout, she uses this platform to provide “soul food” for high-achieving women. She serves as a reminder that even the most formidable leaders need a place to refuel. Her messages are a blend of “accurate, crisp” biblical truth and the practical wit of a woman who has navigated the complexities of government and business.
Spiritual Refueling & Executive Wellness
The Encouragement Café offers services for the woman who is “poured out” and needs to be “poured into.”
• The CEO’s Sabbath Retreat: Exclusive, intimate spiritual retreats for high-capacity leaders to disconnect, refuel, and hear from God.
• Soul-Care Consulting: Helping organizations and leaders implement “wellness of the soul” practices to prevent burnout in high-stakes environments.
How is your approach different from other coaches?
As an empowerment coach, my approach is different because I don’t separate the woman from the work. Many coaching models focus solely on strategy or output; I focus on alignment first—identity, values, and purpose—because sustainable success flows from wholeness.
I often say, “I don’t coach hustle—I coach alignment.” That means we do the inner work and the structural work: mindset and boundaries alongside pricing, positioning, and execution. I don’t believe in success that costs women their peace, health, or relationships. Instead, I help women build in a way that honors both their calling and their capacity.
I also lead from lived experience. I’ve navigated public service, entrepreneurship, ministry, and leadership in high-pressure, male-dominated spaces. That perspective allows me to coach with both compassion and clarity—helping women move forward confidently, make bold decisions, and lead without shrinking or apologizing.
What has been the most rewarding during your journey?
The most rewarding part of my journey has been witnessing women come alive—watching confidence replace doubt and clarity replace fear. There is nothing more powerful than seeing a woman recognize her worth and begin to move differently in the world.
One woman came to me feeling overwhelmed, underpaid, and uncertain of her voice. She was working hard but shrinking herself in rooms where she belonged. Through intentional coaching and support, she learned to set boundaries, articulate her value, and lead with confidence. Today, she leads her own initiative, commands respect in professional spaces and no longer asks for permission to take up space.
A few women stand out not because of titles or visibility, but because of the depth of their growth. I’ve watched women who once hesitated to speak now lead rooms with authority. I’ve seen women who were overextended and undervalued step into clarity, raise their standards, and build sustainable businesses and ministries.
What stays with me most is not the outcomes alone, but the moment of shift—the moment a woman realizes she no longer has to shrink, overperform, or apologize for her calling. Being trusted to walk alongside women in those moments is sacred to me. That is the reward: transformation that lasts, ripples outward, and changes generations.

Why will 2026 be the best year?
I believe 2026 will be the best year because it marks a divine shift. We have entered a season of alignment. For many women—and for me personally—this is a moment where preparation, clarity, and courage finally converge. What has been planted in faith, watered in obedience, and refined through waiting is now coming into alignment. This is a season where God is calling women to rise—not louder, but clearer; not busier, but bolder; not striving but standing firmly in who they are.
We are moving beyond survival and stepping into intentional living. I will no longer be waiting for permission to lead, speak, or build; I am claiming my voice, honoring my boundaries, and showing up “unapologetically” with purpose. The work I’ve been called to do—restoration, leadership development, and global sisterhood—is meeting women at exactly the right time.
There is a breaking of old patterns in 2026. Women are being released from cycles of exhaustion, silence, and self-doubt, and stepping into authority, clarity, and peace. This is the year where preparation meets permission—not from people, but from God. Doors that once felt closed are opening because the capacity to steward what’s next has finally caught up with the calling.
On a personal level, 2026 represents fruit. Years of quiet work, faithful obedience, and behind-the-scenes preparation are now positioned for visible impact. But more importantly, it’s a year of collective rising—where women lead from wholeness, communities are strengthened, and faith is activated through action. But this season isn’t about personal elevation, it’s about collective elevation. God is raising women who lead with wisdom, compassion, and conviction, and who understand that influence is meant to heal, restore, and build.
2026 is not a year for rushing ahead; it is a year for walking in step with purpose. It’s not about doing more, but about doing what matters, being faithful with intention, courage, and grace. What God is releasing in this season requires maturity and discernment, and I believe I am ready to steward it well.
That is why 2026 will be the best year yet.
Tell us about your goals and work with Sisters of Refugee.
My work with Sisters of Refugees is rooted in the belief that connection is a powerful form of healing. This initiative creates sacred space for women—both in refugee camps across Africa and here in the United States—to be seen, heard, and valued through intentional relationship.
Sisters of Refugees is a pen-pal program that connects women through letter writing, fostering mutual encouragement, cross-cultural understanding, and emotional support. For women in refugee camps—many of whom have experienced displacement, loss, and trauma—these letters serve as a reminder that they are not forgotten, invisible, or alone. For women in the U.S., the experience deepens compassion, global awareness, and a shared sense of sisterhood that transcends borders.
One experience that stays with me deeply is writing to a sister who unexpectedly became a widow and was left to raise three sons on her own. Through her letters, I witnessed both grief and extraordinary resilience. There were moments when words felt inadequate, yet the simple act of presence—showing up consistently through written encouragement—became a lifeline. It reminded me that sometimes the most powerful ministry is not advice or solutions, but companionship. Knowing that someone across the world was praying for her, thinking of her, and walking alongside her mattered more than I could have imagined.
My goal with this work is simple yet profound: to restore dignity through relationship. I am not trying to “fix” anyone—We are walking alongside one another. In a world that often reduces refugees to statistics, Sisters of Refugees restores humanity by reminding women of their worth, resilience, and voice. It is a beautiful example of how small, intentional acts—like a handwritten letter—can create lasting impact and hope.
